Source of Your Peace

John 14:27 KJV
[27] Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

This world was not designed to be a peaceful place, at least after man sinned. Whether it be poverty, bad grades, or a pestilence, our peace was never designed to flow from these circumstances surrounding us. If your peace of mind is being tested, then this is best time to evaluate your priorities in life, and determine what you want your source of peace to be. “Peace of mind and a relationship with God is far more important, so this is the precedent that we’ve set in our lives (Phil Robertson).

Into the Hands of God

1 Chronicles 19:13 KJV
[13] Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the Lord do that which is good in his sight.

Everyone who has been alive long enough knows that life is a battle. Every day comes with its own complications to unravel and unexpected situations. Inasmuch as we trust God to deliver us from life’s troubles, we have the responsibility to do our best in every situation. We do not always have clear directions from God, but one cannot cross one’s arms expecting miracles to fall from the sky. Sometimes all we can do is our best and leave the rest to God. “You have to first do your best before you expect God to do the rest for you” (Edmond Mbiaka).

Landlord of Your Faith

1 Chronicles 17:2-4 KJV
[2] Then Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee. [3] And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying, [4] Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in:

It is imperative in this New Testament era to establish one’s own relationship with God. The fact that someone is an anointed (wo)man of God does not mean everything that comes out of their mouth is God-ordained and relevant to your destiny. Only God is perfect and thanks to Jesus coming to die on the cross we now have access to the Father. Everyone makes mistakes; only God is perfect. Seek to know Him for yourself especially regarding His perfect will for your life. At the end, everyone is accountable to God for their own lives. “It is a shame that most Christians their faith is a lease owned by their pastors and not by God, the real Landlord” (DJ Kyos).

Transformed

Romans 12:2 KJV
[2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

As humans in this world, we define our reality by what we perceive. Unfortunately, our perception is limited to our personal experiences and levels in life. That is why it is necessary as a child of God to strive to see things as God sees, by renewing your mind with the Word of God. “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are” (Anais Nin).

Every Day

Matthew 8:22 KJV
[22] But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

Everyday is a new day and we must leave the past where it belongs to be able to create a desirable future. “If you don’t leave your past in the past, it will destroy your future. Leave for what today has to offer not for what yesterday has taken away” (Unknown).

Worry

Matthew 6:34 KJV
[34] Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

About 95% of the things we worry about do not materialize. The things that we should be worried about usually happens so fast that we don’t get enough time to worry about them. Worrying is useless; the only thing it accomplishes is making things seem worse. “Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength” (Corrie ten Boom).

Trusting in Advance

Genesis 45:8 KJV
So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

Sometimes things happen in our lives that in the moment do not seem to fit in the plan that a good God should have for His children. It is only later down the road that the pieces of our lives may start to come together to make sense, and we will finally understand why God allowed certain things to happen. In the meantime, we can only trust God and believe He has the best plans for our lives. “I have learned that faith means trusting in advance what will only make sense in reverse” (Philip Yancey).

Lessons

Ecclesiastes 7:10 KJV
Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.

It is futile to think that the best years are in the past. The future is in your control by your actions of your present. There are many lessons we can learn from this situation. We can learn how to manage our future finances better than we did before, we can learn to appreciate our loved ones better than before, we can learn to stop complaining about things we used to complain about before that we now miss in our lives etc. There are so many lessons we can learn from this to make wiser decisions in the future. “We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future” (George Bernard Shaw).

Outlook

Romans 12:2 KJV
[2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

We can all agree that this pandemic is bad news. With that said, you can choose how you see things. You can choose to focus on how it has spoilt your plans for the year, or you can get with it and come up with new plans. Some may allow depression to overcome them, while some will come out with a fresher outlook on life. “It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters” (Epictetus).

Panacea

Zechariah 2:8 KJV
[8] For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

In the New Testament era, we do not have physical proof of God’s presence like clouds and fire. We have the Holy Spirit in us to testify to that. However, sometimes we may feel God is far away. Despite how we feel though, we are assured in the Word that God feels our pain. Whatever touches you touches God as well, therefore there is nothing going on in your life that He is ignorant or uncaring of. There is no need to feel overwhelmed by how life works out. “Nothing surpasses the full knowledge that God is with you! It’s such a great panacea to issues of life!” (Ernest Agyemang Yeboah).
