Too Soon to Give Up

Lord , who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain? …who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind;
Psalm 15:1, 4 NIV

The festivities of the new year are waning, and reality is already catching up with us. We have a choice to go back to the way things were last year, or to continue with our new year resolutions. New years’ resolutions are not only to ourselves, but to God as well. Even if one is beginning to find that one’s new year resolutions are ‘too much’, it’s better to trim it than to completely erase it. ‘What the mind can conceive, it can achieve’.

Clean Heart

Psalm 51:10 KJV
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

A lot of times we pray this prayer without really knowing what we are asking of God. “Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of – throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself”[C.S. Lewis]. That is what it means to ask God to create in you a new heart.

Genesis 37:5 KJV
And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
Luke 2:19 KJV
But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

Whom you talk to has power to use what you have told them against you. Be careful to whom you reveal your secrets. Know each person in your life and the role they play individually. Some people don’t need to know about everything that happens in your life. Eventually, God’s plan for Joseph came to pass, but not after he had gone through sudden challenges. Like Mary, there are some things we must store up in our hearts. When the right time comes, what will be will be. You don’t need to prove yourself to anybody before what God has purposed in your life will come to pass. “If you want to achieve greatness in life, stop asking for permission.”

Nehemiah 4:6-8 KJV
So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work. [7] But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth, [8] And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it.

In 2016, a lot of people have a mind to work to rebuild their lives. With God all things are possible, but not necessarily easy. If plans were easy to follow through, the world would be a better place because everybody would achieve their plans for every year. In reality, oppositions will come to hinder us, the same way they did last year. It is up to us to be proactive, strong and determined in our goals. You can’t help what opposition may come your way this year, but only you can determine how you will respond to it.

Let Go

Philippians 3:13-14 KJV
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do , forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those thing which are before, [14] I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

To move forward in life, you have to make peace with your past, however it was, and then move forward. You can’t run a race while carrying a burden, and similarly one must literally free your mind from past hurts, disappointments, etc to be able to move on. Paul had been a major instrument in the persecution of Christians, but he didn’t allow that from preventing himself to be used by God as much as possible. That should be our attitude this year. We shouldn’t let our past determine our future. “Don’t let your background drop your back to the ground”💥💫

Philippiens 3: 13-14 LSG

Good day
Psalm 29:11 KJV
The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.

As this year began, there were messages on whatsapp asking people to be conscious of their new year resolutions because they are easier said than done. But with God, all things are possible. If we are a people of God, God has already promised strength unto us to achieve our resolutions for the year. His peace is also available for us. Let us take this year one day at a time and trust God for strength  and peace to have a successful year.

What You Sow..

Genesis 4:3-4 KJV
And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord . [4] And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
2 Corinthians 9:6 KJV
But this I say , He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

Sometimes we may compare ourselves with others and wonder why they seem to get ahead, seemingly effortlessly. The answer is simple; what you sow is what you reap. It seems at the end of each year a lot of people are eager for a fresh start the following year. But if we play our cards[or our seeds] right, we will reap a good harvest. The year is still young, and the end always justifies the means. How you start this year will determine how you will end it. If you start sparingly, doing things the same as before etc., you will end the year looking forward to the next year, and so on and so forth. If you sow bountifully, you may just end up surprising yourself.
