Efforts

Ruth 2:15-16 NKJV And when she rose up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, “Let her glean even among the sheaves, and do not reproach her. Also let grain from the bundles fall purposely for her; leave it that she may glean, and do not rebuke her.”

“Heaven never helps the man who will not act”.-Sophocles. Generally, God never does for man what man can do for himself. It is good to pray about situations, but it is also good to not fold one’s arms expecting God to do what He expects you to do. God blesses efforts. Make an effort.

Focus

Ruth 1:14 NKJV Then they lifted up their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her.

Ruth 1:18 NKJV

When she saw that she was determined to go with her, she stopped speaking to her.
Focus is an important part of the road to success. It’s easier to have a good idea than it is to follow it through despite challenges that may try to confront it. What the mind can conceive, it can achieve so it is important to be determined and focused on your goals in life. “Believe in yourself and there will come a day when others will have no choice but to believe with you”-Cynthia Kersey.

Encouragement

1 Samuel 30:6 KJV[6] And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but *David encouraged himself in the Lord his God*[emphasis mine].

Life is such that nobody can be there for you all the time. Even the best of men can turn their back on you if it suits their own interest. The ability to encourage yourself is very vital. Instead of focusing on being disappointed when humans act like humans, you can encourage yourself in the Lord your God. He is the only One who will never leave or forsake you.

Faith, or lack thereof

Luke 8:25But He said to them, “Where is your faith?”And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, “Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!”

There are some of us Christians who have been walking with God for a long time but lacking in faith in Him. We don’t need to be like Thomas who wanted to see before he believed. Faith(not love) is blind. It is impossible for anyone to please God without faith.

Grand Weaver

John 6:12 NIV

When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.”

In His book “The Grand Weaver”, Ravi Zacharias talks about how God weaves even the littlest details of our lives into His master plan. Let no experience in your life be wasted. Allow God to use the things you have gone through and are going through to be meaningful with respect to where He is taking you to.

True Identity

John 1:12-13 NKJV

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

“If you don’t know who you are, people will tell you who you are not”. Sometimes, we get our identities skewed and don’t know who we really are. If one is a Christian, apart from and above being many things such as a son/daughter, sister/brother, student, parent, etc., one’s true identity is one’s calling as a child of God. This doesn’t exempt one from one’s secular responsibilities, but knowing one’s identity helps put all other things into perspective. As CS Lewis puts it, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”

Worldview

Galatians 1:15-16 NIVBut when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, my immediate response was not to consult any human being.

“Life is the most difficult exam. Many people fail because they try to copy others. Not realizing that everyone has a different question paper.” The thing about life is that every individual has their own reality and worldview; even siblings in the same family may not have the same experiences with their parents. Don’t force yourself to be like others regardless if their journey seem similar to yours. Seeking God concerning your destiny is the surest way to not missing it.
