Proverbs 24:16 KJV
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again:
Ideally, everyone would want to live lives without mistakes and imperfections but unfortunately this world is not utopian. However, one’s setbacks do not have to define one’s identity. “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall” (Confucius).
Proverbs 22:13 KJV
The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.
Nothing worthwhile comes easy. If one looks for an excuse not to do something, one would most definitely find it. “Some people dream of success, while other people get up every morning and make it happen” (Wayne Huizenga).
1 Corinthians 10:11 KJV
Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
History has a way of repeating itself. There is no situation peculiar to a person. It is better to learn from the lives of other people than to try and make one’s own mistakes. “You must learn from the mistakes of others. You can’t possibly live long enough to make them all yourself” (Samuel Levenson).
John 13:3 KJV
 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
Life makes more sense when you are recognizant of where you are coming from, as well as where you are going in life. Otherwise it is easy to just go with the flow and at the end of your life, wonder where it all went. “If you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there” – (Lewis Carroll).
John 10:3,5 KJV
To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
The biggest excuse used for not living up to one’s potential is “What will people say?” You can choose to follow the voice of people who think they know best, or you can choose to follow the Voice that will lead you to fulfill your God-given destiny. “Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking” (Steve Jobs).
John 8:32 KJV
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
“It is the truth you know that has the power to set you free. The only truth that can set you free is the truth that you personally know…The presence of truth cannot and does not heal…It is not the presence of truth but the knowledge of truth that has the power to heal” (John Avanzini).
Job 42:7 KJV
… the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath .
It is nice to have loved ones who look out for you, but no matter the level of love shared among friends and family, everyone has a peculiar journey or assignment which may not always be comprehensible to people outside yourself. What God is doing in your life does not need the approval and understanding of people around you to make it relevant.
