The only time it’s okay to focus on the past is to see how far God has brought us. You can’t expect to move forward while continuously looking backward. “Shut out all of your past except that which helps you weather your tomorrows”(William Osler).
Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
So many times we are in bondage of things that happened in the past. We look at the past and wish we had done things differently. But there is a reason why people grow and mature with time. Looking back on the past does not accomplish anything, it just robs one of present happiness. It is good to always go forward in life and not backward in time.
