John 1:12-13 NKJV
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
“If you don’t know who you are, people will tell you who you are not”. Sometimes, we get our identities skewed and don’t know who we really are. If one is a Christian, apart from and above being many things such as a son/daughter, sister/brother, student, parent, etc., one’s true identity is one’s calling as a child of God. This doesn’t exempt one from one’s secular responsibilities, but knowing one’s identity helps put all other things into perspective. As CS Lewis puts it, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”
