Knowledge

Hosea 4:6 KJV
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Recently I have been tempted to ignore my own quiet time to listen to radio ministries on the go, but as Joyce Meyer says, listening to others’ take on the Bible, no matter how anointed they are,  is so not enough for your and mine spiritual journey.

When we pray the sinner’s prayer at first, after a while, like a serial dater who finally decides to settle down in marriage, our vows feel like they are for status only and not for real.

Why do I say this?
Because everybody who is a Christian first receives Christ as His Lord and personal Saviour. Why then should we, after accepting the salvation of God, leave it to others to grow for us?

2 Peter 3:18 KJV
[18] But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

God meant it when He said for lack of knowledge His people perish (to become destroyed or ruined : cease to exist; Merriam-Webster). That means a child of God can perish (in my opinion, go to hell) for lack of knowledge.

It is a personal responsibility to receive Christ as your Lord and Personal Saviour (though He is Saviour of the whole world), but it is also your personal responsibility to grow in Him.

An Illustration
I read about a so-called man of God who told a young couple who didn’t know each other from Adam in order to receive healing, to have sexual intercourse five times in his presence, which they complied. If you have the Word of God in you, you will know that that is foolishness!

Jesus Christ is the King of kings and Lord of lords. A day is coming that we will reign with him as kings. How can a king begin to reign successfully without the “message of Christ dwelling among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom” now?(Col. 3:16)
